Just announced: Avex stars, queen of hip hop, Namie Amuro and international wonder, BoA will be heading to Pusan festival in Korea. BoA has not been in the Korean scene since the Anyband days and has a total hiatus of over 4 years away from Korea. I’m sure her fans are excited to see her!
On Saturday (or in a few hours if you’re in Korea), these 2 mega pop stars will entertain for one of the largest crowds to come together. Pusan is simply the largest Asian festival, located in the heart of Korea.
Not only for music fans, but Pusan holds a great deal of entertainment for film lovers and makers a like, and this year PIFF has invited a record 355 films, with 144 world premieres.
It is welcome and open hearted to everyone, and attending will be Bryan Singer, director of X-men films and mega screen actor Josh Harnett. The great thing I love about Korea is their taste for music, film and celebration. What a great way to combine all of these into one spectacular event! BoA, X-men, Namie!! Going nuts now!

Yamashita Tomohisa (Yama-P) recently captivated viewers with his energetic acting in the Fuji TV drama series ‘ブザー・ビート～崖っぷちのヒーロー～ / Buzzer Beat～Gakeppuchi no Hero～’. Now he is set to enthrall fans with his singing.
With a new single in tow, Yama-P will finally hold his first ever solo concert. He is going to perform 5 concerts in 3 days at Yokohama Arena, and is set to attract a total of 75,000 fans. It will be a large scale live act just perfect for Yama-P. After Nishikido Ryo, Yama-P will become the second NEWS member to hold a solo concert (excluding the duo Tegomass).
The concert title is ‘First Solo～短いけれどいい時間(とき)を～SHORT BUT SWEET / First Solo～Mijikai keredo Ii Toki o～SHORT BUT SWEET’.
Yama-P himself came up with the name, and it is meant to be a message to the fans that will come see him perform. [The Japanese subtitle starting from ‘Mijikai…' roughly means ‘Although there's only limited time, let's make the most out of it.'] Yama-P seemed intent on breaking new ground.
“It is my first time in ages to perform as a solo artist, so I’m really looking forward to it. It is my first ever solo concert, so I hope the audience will be able to see a different side of myself.”

The actors Oguri Shun, Asano Tadanobu, Miyazawa Rie and Eita are all appearing in the same commercial series for the chocolate snack ‘OTONA GLICO’. In the TV ads the actors play the roles of the various characters that appear in the popular anime ‘サザエさん / Sazae-san’, but with a twist. The commercials portray the characters 25 years into the future (thus the series are dubbed ‘Isono family [last name of main character] 25 years later’). In the newest version Ikura-chan (Oguri), who is a CEO of an IT-related company, starts a conversation with Tara-chan (Eita). While chatting on Ikura-chan’s private jet, Ikura-chan suggested he is contemplating a job change. Viewers are bound to be interested in the outcome.
In the above mentioned scene Ikura-chan says “Okay, let’s go on our last flight.” He and Tara-chan go on board, and eventually fly past the Isono residence. From the plane Tara-chan manages to find Ikura-chan’s brother and sister, although they are only the size of peas. “Hey! That’s Katsuo [brother] and Wakame [sister]. Whoa, Katsuo let go of his bat [and made it sail off into the air].” As with all the other versions, the TV ad ends with Katsuo messing up while practicing baseball. The portrayal of peaceful everyday lives matches the style of the original anime.
If one looks closely at the latest version, it is possible to see how much the staff paid attention to detail. The pilot uniform worn by Ikura-chan has the words ‘Ikura’ printed on them, and his badge is made out of ‘ikura’. [‘Ikura; イクラ' is salmon roe] Eita was especially impressed. “Above all, that ikura badge is superb.” Oguri agreed, and said it was one of his favorite items too. “Yeah. I can feel the staff’s love.”

Publisher Sued Over Unauthorized Books Of Arashi, KAT-TUN October 3, 2009

Tokyo-based publisher R’s Shuppan is being sued over sales of unauthorized books featuring the members of idol groups Arashi and KAT-TUN. The first hearing was held in court on Tuesday.
R’s Shuppan is accused of publishing twelve books between 2005 and 2008, using the names and photos of the groups’ members for commercial purpose without permission. The plaintiffs are reportedly seeking more than 170 million yen in damages.
The publisher requested to have the lawsuit dismissed, claiming that the books simply traced the history of the groups and did not count as a violation of their right to publicity. However, the plaintiffs argued that the violation is clear, pointing out that the majority of the books’ pages contain unauthorized images.

V6 commented on their press conference that, “Hallyu stars BoA and
TVXQ are awesome”.
On the 19th of September, Japanese popular group V6 held a press
conference at the Seoul Hilton Hotel. Yoshihiko Inohara said,
“Korean artists who had debuted in Japan are really amazing.”
He added, “We’ve met BoA a few times on TV programs.
We had visited Korea a few years back, therefore when we saw Korean
artists in Japan, we always perform the duties of a ‘host’ to them.”
V6 would be having their concert in Korea this coming November,
and they said, “This is a new beginning and a challenge to us.”
V6 members consists of 2 subunits:
20th Century: Masayuki Sakamoto, Hiroshi Nagano, Yoshihiko Inohara.
Coming Century: Go Morita, Ken Miyake, Junichi Okada.

Sports Hochi reports that kabuki actor Shido Nakamura (37) and actress Meisa Kuroki (21)
recently started dating. The unexpected couple met when they worked
together in the play “Akai Shiro, Kuroi Suna” this past April.
Sources say that Nakamura began approaching Kuroki shortly after it was
decided that they would be acting together. However, they reportedly
started dating barely a month ago.
Since his divorce from Yuko Takeuchi (29) in February 2008,
the media has reported rumors of Nakamura dating various women,
including Sawa Suzuki (37) and a rekindled romance
with Tomoe Shinohara (30). Nakamura remained silent about each of
those rumors, but this time it seems that he has been openly
telling his friends about Kuroki. They were also seen at a party
looking happy while getting very close to each other.
In May 2008, Kuroki was reported to be dating a musician named KEN,
but they appear to have broken up around July of this year.

The very young Fukuda Saki is still 18 years old [soon to turn 19]. She was chosen as one of the winners of the 6th ‘The Beauty Week Award’! The annual award is given to famous celebrities with stylish hair. The awards ceremony was held in Tokyo on September 3rd. At the ceremony Fukuda showed off her shiny, straight hair. She beamed as she received a bunch of flowers and a giant hair comb. [The award is given in and around September 4th, ‘Hair Comb Day’. ‘Hair comb’ in Japanese is ‘kushi; 櫛’. ‘Ku’ and ‘shi’ could each mean ‘9’ and ‘4’.] She expressed her gratitude to her parents for her hair, which has been lauded by hair stylists. “I thank my parents for my hair. I can’t wait to tell them about the award.” She told reporters that she works everyday to maintain her beauty. After taking a bath, she makes sure to drink water that is not excessively cold or hot. Tohoshinki Shows Unique and Cool Sides in TV Commercials September 7, 2009

The five-member group of artists from Korea Tohoshinki will appear in a new series of TV commercials for ‘Pinky’, a snack made by Koikeya [snack food brand]. The commercials are set to go on air from September 9th. There are two different versions of the TV ads, with a ‘Unique’ version for ‘fruit mint’ flavor ‘Pinky’ and a ‘Cool’ version for ‘Alaska mint’. In the unique version the members appear on a public screen with each promoting the snack by saying ‘SHINKI ITTEN [Refresh yourselves with] NEW Pinky!’ But since the group’s leader YUNHO (23) was given a role where he cannot say anything, all 5 members go to the director and ask that he give YUNHO a line to speak. For the cool version Tohoshinki stands still while a white mist swirls around them. The actual filming was done back in July at a studio in Tokyo. The film shooting took a total of about 12 hours. Although the filming took a prolonged period of time, the members showed no signs of fatigue. Last Friday on September 4th KAT-TUN member Nakamaru celebrated his 26th birthday. Nakamaru provided us with the latest information about their TV program ‘Cartoon KAT-TUN’! “Good evening. This is Nakamaru Yuichi. September is here. Yesterday as part of our ‘Cartoon KAT-TUN’ we tried out ‘bouldering’, an indoor version of free climbing. [Actually, bouldering is also conducted outdoors too. The filming of the TV program took place at an indoor facility, so he might have mistaken bouldering as an indoor only sport.] It was our first time to give it a try, and I realized that you need lots of strength for this indoor sport. The people there told us that bouldering is becoming popular among women too. It might be a good way to build up muscles.
